THE FACE BEHIND THE VIVID CO

Who would have thought that a hobby as a 15-year-old (many moons ago) would turn into a career one day? Definitely not me! Back when some of the main stressors of life included being overwhelmed with whom to put in your Top 8, I was helping out friends design their Myspace pages. I would even use free programs to edit photos and people loved it (not limited to changing eye/ hair color to crazy pinks and greens).

Fast forward a few years—half-way through my freshmen year of college at the University of Memphis on a pre-nursing track, I realized Science was just not my thing and discovered Graphic Design was an actual career that made an income. I randomly applied to Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD)—one of the top Art schools on the East Coast, and to my (major) surprise, I was accepted. At the age of 19, I packed up and moved to Atlanta and the rest is history. Art and all-things-creative became my life.

To spare you from being here all day, I will jump forward a few years later—I ended up graduating from The Art Institute of Charlotte with my degree in Graphic Design. I then worked at two different companies over a span of 8 years doing everything from User Interface Design for large-format touchscreens to massive Tradeshow graphics and Marketing Materials. I moved my way up the corporate ladder from Senior Graphic Designer to Marketing and Communications Manager which allowed me to hone in on my Type A personality and really learn a lot in the Project Managing realm.

During these years, I was freelancing on the side creating mostly small-business logos and event flyers. All of these side-hustle jobs and new clients were preparing me for the day my husband would leave for a very unexpected year-long Military Deployment. By the grace of God, I was able to see the bright side of the situation—this was my chance to take hold of the reigns and make the leap into really giving my freelance business a full go. So here we are today—The Vivid Co—which was birthed many years ago as a side hustle and evolved into my full-time gig! I couldn't be more ecstatic to see where this journey will lead me, and I hope we get the chance to work together!
